The Central Records Unit is located at Lansing Police headquarters.
Central Records administers the processing of all police reports, accident reports, criminal history checks and firearm registrations.
All police reports are released through the Freedom of Information Act Requests must be made in writing and are accepted in person, by mail, email or fax. LPD has five business days to provide a response. In cases when more time is needed to provide a complete response, a 10-business-day extension may be necessary. Fees vary based on the amount of information requested and the time to process the information.
